Monday Night RAW: Heath Slater defeats Edge by Count-out to stay as a part of The Nexus
Heath Slater faced an uphill task when it was announced that he would face The Rated-R Superstar Edge in a singles wrestling match. It was imperative for Slater to win the match if he wanted to remain as a part of The Nexus. The future of Slater was at stake and he was willing to do anything to win the fight. Slater kept his ego aside and talked to Edge before the start of the fight. Slater literally begged Edge to not show up at the match. It was a rare sight to watch as a member of The Nexus was trying to achieve something through conversation.
Edge, who is famous for his arrogance, told Slater that he would show up in the fight and defeat him in the middle of the ring. He said it because Slater was one of those Nexus members who attacked him a couple of weeks ago. Slater, who was accepting a more positive response from Edge, punched him at the back of his head. The stage was a set for an explosive fight.
Edge did not waste any time when the referee signalled the start of the fight. Edge went right on the attack and punched Slater on his face. He then cornered Slater and kicked hard on his abdomen. It was a reply to what Slater did to him earlier on Monday Night RAW. Edge then knocked down Slater by delivering a huge clothesline. Perhaps Edge became too over confident when he started climbing the top turn buckle to deliver a missile drop kick. Slater took advantage of the situation and pushed Edge to destroy his balance. That was followed by a baseball slide by Slater, who threw Edge out of the ring. Once back in the ring, Slater went for the cover but Edge kicked out before the referee’s final count of three.
The competition got tough as Slater overpowered the more experienced wrestler. Slater then tossed Edge high in the air to bang his face hard on the ring floor. Then came the hard part for Slater as Edge ran in the ring and delivered a spear to his abdomen. The spear made such an impact that Slater rolled in the ring with pain and then fell on the concrete floor. Edge dominated the fight outside the ring and knocked down Slater by delivering a huge kick to his face. The referee asked both wrestlers to come back in the ring and started his 10 count. However, Edge disregarded the official and prepared to execute a deadly spear on Slater’s abdomen.
Tension was in the air as both wrestlers were outside the ring and the referee was counting till 10. It was imperative for both wrestlers to get back in the ring to avoid the risk of disqualification. In the middle of this chaos, Edge ran outside the ring to deliver a spear to Heath Slater. Slater was quick in his reaction and quickly got back in the ring to avoid the spear. Timing was everything at that moment, as the referee completed his 10 count.
Edge got disqualified as Heath Slater was in the ring at the very moment the referee completed the 10 count. It was a victory by chance for Heath Slater, as he had no chance if Edge had stayed back in the ring. Slater not only defeated Edge but confirmed his place as a member of The Nexus. Slater climbed the top turn buckle to celebrate his victory over the Rated-R Superstar, Edge.
There was devastation when Slater moved back to exit the arena. Edge came from behind and delivered a deadly Spear to Slater’s abdomen. Slater was down and out as the crowd cheered for the Rated-R wrestler. Heath Slater may have won the match, but it was Edge who got the last laugh.
