Monday it will be 95 degrees outside. OMG. A few days ago it was 70 degrees and I almost dies in the heat at school because it was sooo humid and hot. My class has alot of people in it. Actually 25, not including the teacher. Should I go to school Monday? How do I convince my mom its just way too hot?

  1. I grew up in the California desert. The schools used swamp coolers, all of which were ancient and seldom worked. We got used to it, but that first hot spell was as bad as the first cold snap of winter.

Good luck and remember that air conditioning did not exist for our ancestors until the mid-20th Century. They made it to work and school, and built the nation, and did so in ridiculously heavy head-to-toe clothing. Loosen your corset and drink lots of water...

  2. They have some gel packs you freeze and put on you rneck when it's hot. It really lowers your body temeprature and makes you feel so much better. If you can't miss school that could help you. You can buy them at sporting goods stores.

  3. I'm just very curious- do you live near Detroit or Michigan? Just asking because I have heard that they have had a very unstable temperature change. It MIGHT BE canceled, but yes, I would defiantly agree to ask your Mom if you could stay home. No AC is also a bad thing (is your building under construction?)

  4. Yes you should go to school. It's the ned of the year and you might be missing a lot especially if you have finals coming up. You're going to have to put up with the heat, if you don't have any health problems that are affected by the heat, then there's no reason why you can't go to school. Your teacher might use fans to keep the classroom cool, just bring water bottles with you ans you should be fine, your teacher should allow it on a day like tomorrow.

  5. Make her go with you

  6. If they don't have AC it would be a very convincing argument to stay home, because that's dangerous heat there. Especially if there is a lot of humidity with it, that would put the heat index well into the 100's.

If you're not doing anything important at school that day, honestly I really would stay home. If she doesn't let you, then just wear light clothing and definitely shorts. And bring a water bottle to class with you (I'd hope they'd allow that on a day like that if they don't otherwise)
