Monday night games.....Do you like more or none of them?

I personally hate it, I don't know why but it just is not right. I know the AFL is trying to copy the American fixture, but its not my cup of tea. And I hate waiting to Monday night for the round to be completed for the sake of footy tipping comps.

  1. It's only worthy to have Monday night games on Public holidays Kev and the fixtures and ladder to be updated on Monday makes the AFL company lazy

  2. its a big N.O no for me big kev, cant stand the thought of Monday night football and throw in the Sunday twilight games as well -went to one and by the time i got home and with work the next day it just didn't seem right, plus after watching footy all wkend there's no way the missus will give up her Monday night programs so i can watch footy :( ...........lol

  3. No, don't like monday night games Kev.

Nothing better than a friday night game for me, tucked up in bed watching the footy!!!!!!!!

  4. If I was you I would write a letter to Robert Walls a commentator. I can assure you in some way, he may be to blame!

  5. none

  6. I think it is all about the rating and the media and the franchises getting the most $$ out of the game , Kev.

Why get money broadcasting three or four games on the weekend when you can broadcast another one on Monday?

My opinion and everyone is entitled to it.

    Cheers, mate.

  7. Monday night games in footy are kind of silly, I think. Monday night football has worked here in America since 1970 because of television. Each round in the NFL is played only on Sunday except for the Monday game, with an occasional Thursday or Saturday game, maybe five games a year not on Sunday or Monday.

With the AFL starting on Friday night each week, playing out to Monday just makes the weekend too long, waiting to see how your tips went.

I understand Easter Monday and Queen's Birthday, only two games, but not every week or every other week. It is tough enough for the fixture makers to keep each team with at least a six day break between games already.

  8. sorry Big Kev

i like them, its about time the afl stepped up with the rest of the world in sport

night footy is the way to go, the national rugby league played Monday night games all through 2007 and had one of the best and most successful seasons ever

  9. As a spectator, i dont mind Monday night games. The problem I have is that it gives the players less time to recover, say if they have to play next Saturday.

Nothing wrong with a few beers on a Monday night guys....just keep it under a 6 pack

  10. Yes i hate them too sweetie. They should just finish it on Sunday when all of the AFL matches are done. Some people are just too lazy. lol.

  11. Yeah I completely agree with you. On one Friday when I didn't go to school, I just spent the day watchin TV and waiting for the footy. I'd get so annoyed if I had to wait that long. And I have school the next day and probably homework and stuff and its just not right to do homework and watch th footy. Id probably fail at everything. Theyd probably delay th telecast so we wouldnt go to bed til late. Plus you cant have people over for beers and stuff (dw, i dunt drink, I meant for my dad, I jus stay with him n his friends in th garage).

  12. I agree Big Kev!

It just doesnt feel right when they play on Monday nights.  Its hard to get motivated to even watch.

And of course it makes the footy tipping a nightmare - im so impatient..I want to know by the end of Sunday how many I tip...LOL

I just wish they would stop messing around with the game, the format and the comp in general and let AFL be what it has always been.

Media and ratings ruin everything..  :(

  13. No good to me.  As an interstater they're almost impossible for me to get to and I always forget they're on.  We get b-all coverage up here anyway so ... nup .

  14. Football was born and raised on Saturday afternoons .... the good ol days where thousands of famalies, and supporters would flock to the match and watch grown men punch the living snot out of each other while the ball was up the other end of the ground. While 2 field umpires controlled the ball and warriors left field at the end of the day bloodied and bruised.

Then the bigger comp came in, so did the cameras, and the all in brawls stopped, so Friday night and Sunday Afternoons got people staying at home watching Football, a game that no longer had the shirtfront and the TV rights worth millions to the AFL. The crowds were down, the pay and prices went up and the rules multiplied like rabbits during off season, and the white maggots grew in numbers then they took ballet, and now they're communcation experts.

Now the Issue of Monday nights .....................what a waste.

Yeah ok I'm a traditionalist I can wear that tag, but give me a break. what ever happened to football lovers going to a game on Saturday afternoon and watching replays in the evening.

Please the people of the AFL stop messing with our great game. It's getting softer (soccer) with people trying win acadamy awards and free kicks at the same time, it's more expensive for families to go, it's no wonder crowds get smaller with the exception of "blockbusters". Now they want an American idea ... Monday Night Football.

The A in AFL stands for Australian ........ not Almagamated.

AFL is for the weekend and it always will be, please leave our great game alone, don't you think you've done enough damage.

  15. Whats the good of Monday night footy when you have to get up for work the next day after a few quiet ales.

I hope that if the AFL try the Monday stunt, that nobody turns up. that would stitch them up, big time.

Each round should be completed ASAP, so that we are not hanging around to see where our club sits on the ladder.

America has led us into Iraq, do they now want to wreck our traditional footy weekends.
