Money Spider set to seal second career win
After a strenuous struggle of more than a year, Money Spider managed to break her maiden on August 6, 2012. In the next month, she remained out of action as her trainer, J. F. O'Shea, wanted to build up on the momentum the bay filly had derived from her
first win.
The three-year-old veteran Irish runner is returning to action today at Thurles racecourse that will host Racecourse Challenge For Cystic Fibrosis 3-Y-O Maiden Hurdle. This is the time for her to show off what she has accumulated with extensive workout.
In the high-stakes race of €5,175, Money Spider will take on 15 rivals while running over the distance of 2 miles. The surface is yielding.
Much to her advantage, the fervent filly has plenty of experience with such sort of race conditions, thus, it will be easy for her to adjust her feet to the ground and produce her utmost pace.
The daughter of Danehill Dancer out of Regal Darcey will run under a new jockey Sean McDermott. This can prove to be positive for her.
Since July, the Miss Sarah Foran owned filly has been in good form. She finished third in the KILA Handicap on July 5 and went on to gain the runner-up spot in the Killarney Oils Ltd. Handicap on 18th.
She again grabbed a third in the 15-runner contest of Claytonhotelgalway.ie Handicap on 30th.
These three podium finishes boosted up her moral to such an extent as she convincingly beat the hot favourite candidate, Slipper Orchid, to lift the ace title of the Irish Stallion Farms European Breeders Fund Fillies Maiden. The 1-mile race went down at
Naas.
Hopefully, Money Spider will repeat similar sort of show in today’s contest. However, she will have to be wary of Everything Zain who has been finishing second constantly since May. Six consecutive runner-up positions have infused immense confidence in him.
The D. T. Hughes trained and owned bay gelding is desperate to break his maiden, thus, he can prove to be a big threat for Money Spider. A rip-roaring clash is imminent between the filly and the gelding. Good luck to the both.
