Hmm..I have two questions here one about MOney and one about how old to get a cell phone.

Money Question: Around the end of June, I want to purchase Rock Band for Wii. It looks like it will cost around $160 and I get paid $5 a week and I currently have $70. What are some good, safe ways to make the money by the end of June?

Cell Phone Question: I'm Eleven, and lots of people in my class already have cell phones. I love to talk with people because I'm an only child and I'm wondering if It's a good age to get a cell phone.

Thanks in Advance :D

  1. yea I'm 11 too! and i have a cell fone and u should start babysitting that will help you get more money i know that  for sure and try to ask your parent to give u somethings to do around the house and during the summer start a care wash or something it will help you a lot and i would get a cell fone now cuz a lot of people have them even me!!!

  2. You could mow lawns for cash, or take your neighbor's dogs for walks for cash. I don't think you need a cell phone at 11, just use your parent's house phone. I mean, if you get paid $5 a week(I'm assuming that is your allowance), that's not enough to get a cell phone and keep the service. Even if you buy a pre-paid cell phone, and use all of your allowance for a phone card, you're going to run out of minutes before your next allowance.

  3. Okay i am 13 and i have a pretty good ways of doing things.

As for the money part.... maybe u could ask a parent if they will pay 30% or something. if not there are still plenty more of options. Many people need help with things. Try seeing if any neighbors or parents friends need a babysitter. Babysitting is a great way to earn money. If there is no one then ask neighbors if they need help w/ anything.

As for the cell phone. I say dont waste your money. If u get one from a parent or something than thats good. But i have one and i rarely use it. I spend most of my time on my home phone.Or u good just IM them on aim or something...

    idk

    good luck

    =)

  4. Not sure on money. As for the cell, just use your home phone. I'm not letting my kids get a cell until they have a job to pay for it.

  5. Get another small job...like waking pets, mowing lawns, raking snow, where ever you are. Just small things like that.

It won't pay much but it might get you $50.

And as for the cell phone...

There are good plans for kids to get(not the go phone). Somthing with your basic needs(500 min. Mobil2Mobil, and Nights&weekends) shouldn't cost TOO much...I mean it will cost some tho.

  6. money:  Do chores, your still young enough to get allowence, and like doing yard work.

cellphone:  I'd saw 13 would be the youngest.  you don't actaully NEED one til highschool though.  Its just a waste of money, like how many people do oyu need to call during the day then when your not with your friends 25cents wont do.

  7. Money: ask your parents if there are extra chores around the house that you can do to earn the money

Cell: Sure, if you can afford to pay for the phone and the service plan yourself.

  8. Money Question: Babysitting, lawn mowing, weed pulling, raking, dog walking, pet sitting

Cell Phone: I got my cellphone when I was 11 (only because it was a buy one get one free deal) I think it's a good age. I suggest Verizon

  9. As far as money, try asking the adults in your life if there are extra chores you can do to earn money. That's what I do for my daughter.

I have to agree with the previous poster that I personally believe you're a bit young to have a phone. However you may want to consider a prepaid one that you pay for, don't for get to discuss that with your parents first.

  10. Can you ask your parents for chores around the house (extra chores?) Maybe ask if you can do some extra work every week for an extra 5 dollars a week (so that you'll make 10 dollars a week)

Do you have any games that you do not like / do not play anymore? Some stores take used games and give you money for them.

*Get permission from your parents first

Can you have a small tag sale? Collect some of your stuff that you dont use/need anymore. Ask your parents if it would be alright for you to have a small yard-sale. If you price 5 things at 1 dollar, thats 5 bucks!

I think its great that you're trying to figure out ways to earn this game on your own. It really shows that you're a pretty mature kid!

As for the cell phone, I'm 20 right now. I got my first cell when I was in 8th grade...a few years older than you. But kids get them earlier and earlier. My 8 year old sister has kids in her class who have cell phones!!

Cell phones can be expensive though! For a kid your age I'd suggest a pre-paid cell phone. If your parents have cell phones they can possibly add you onto their plan for a little extra each month (my boyfriend just got me a cell phone and he only pays 10 dollars a month to have me on his cell phone plan)...

I think the smartest choice would be to talk to your parents about it. Let them know that you're willing to follow rules with the cell phone... make some conciquences for yourself (tell them something like..... "If I go over the cell phone minutes, I'll do extra chores to pay for the bill. If I go over the cell phone minutes more than one time, you can take the phone away from me"...

That way they'll know that you're going to be responsible with the phone.

    good questions here!!
