The Portuguese star has urged Anzhi Makhachkala to return stronger next season after they failed to get UEFA Champions League qualification; hails Samuel Eto’o
Zenit St. Petersburg defender, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Bruno-Alves-c8108, has questioned Anzhi Makhachkala’s poor Russian Premier League performances despite a spending spree during the last two transfer windows.
The Portuguese defender told the Dagestani club that money cannot guarantee anything, and tipped the Makhachkala-based club to return stronger next season.
There is little arguing that Anzhi have spent vigorously ever since Kerimov has taken over the helm. The Wild-division have managed to sign http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Corinthians-c38855, Ajax Amsterdam and
Anderlecht respectively.
However, that was never enough for the ambitious Russian outfit, as they spent in access of over 70 million Euros to persuade http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Christopher-Samba-c9212 and Samuel Eto’o to join the Makhachkala stadium. Anzhi signed the aforementioned
players from http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Inter-c39567 Milan respectively.
Though, the big signings made Anzhi a notable club in the world, the Russian outfit failed to climb the league table. The under achieving results persuaded Kerimov to sign a new coach for the star-studded side at Makhachkala.
The Dagestani club managed to convince Guus Hiddink to take charge as their new manager after parting company with Yuri Krasnozhan. However, Anzhi have still failed to impress this season after failing to get UEFA Champions League
qualification.
“They are just starting to build a strong club. However, I think it will take some time. You cannot just buy players and expect them to become the champions. I think Anzhi will be a really powerful club soon.” The former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/FC-Porto-c39186
man was quoted as saying.
Alves heaped praise on Samuel Eto’o, admitting that the Cameroonian national has what it takes to be a top striker. He conceded that Eto’o is a wonderful player who has proved his class for every team he has played for.
“Hiddink is doing a great http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Job-c18684 there. Anzhi are better organized now. They try to keep the ball, avoid long passes and they have Eto’o in attack. I think they're on the right track.” Alves concluded.
