  1. You need to check with your financial aid office, because different colleges handle the bookstore process differently. At some schools, you can stop by financial aid and receive a bookstore voucher that you simply hand in when you get to the checkout counter. At other schools, you don't even need a voucher - you just go to the bookstore and when it comes time to check out, you hand them your student ID, and they run it through the register terminal and the bookstore employee sees that your books are "taken care of". Other schools probably have other variations on the theme.

Bottom line -there's some way for you to go to the bookstore and walk out without paying, and you'll need to contact financial aid and find out exactly what system is in place at your school.
