Money in Puerto Vallarta?

I'm going to Puerto Vallatra for 6weeks volunteering, i'm not sure how much money to take! i don't have to pay for accomodation so it's just for food, drinks and a few activities really. can somone help me out? cheers

Take your ATM card and get money as you need it.  Be sure to tell your bank you will be in Mexico

You can get by really cheaply in Puerto Vallarta by going out of the tourist zone - lots of good restaurants and supermarkets are very cheap outside of the tourist area.  Get yourself a map that shows the bus routes.  You should be able to get by with under a 100. dollars a week.  Keep in mind that exchange rate is almost equal dollar for peso.
