Money leader Ciganda keeping a wary eye on Masson
Spanish Carlota Ciganda, who is currently leading the ISPS Handa Order of Merit, will be keeping a wary eye on her archrival Caroline Masson of Germany who is also eagerly looking to win the
2012 money race.
Ciganda appears to be in a more comfortable and stronger position than her rival as she took part in the last Ladies European Tour (LET) tournament—Hero Women’s Indian Open 2012—and finished
inside top 10.
On the other hand, Masson, who is standing at the second position in the ISPS Handa Order of Merit, gave a miss to the Hero Women’s Indian Open—something that put further distance between
her and the Spanish star.
Masson, however, has vowed to atone for Indian Open absence at the final battle of the 2012 LET season, which is set to be staged at the Omega Dubai Ladies Masters 2012, scheduled for December
5-8, at Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
Masson needs to earn 31,958.80 euro more to reach Ciganda who has pocketed a whopping 242,789.95 euro in total. However, all the German star has to in order to win the coveted title is finish
inside the top three at Omega Dubai Ladies Masters 2012.
Although the competition is sure to see a tough battle, Masson is able to give her archrival a tough time as she has proved it on several occasions before.
But Ciganda appears to be in a much bigger spotlight than Masson, because she is looking to win another title—Rookie of the Year.
If the Spanish golfer manages to win both the titles, she will become the first player after English Laura Davies, who did the same back in 1985.
Sharing her thoughts while speaking to the media about her plans about the final LET tournament, Ciganda said that she is fully fit to take on rivals in Dubai, but she is also making sure
she does not lose her confidence amid the hype of title battle.
“I think it's an advantage if you are first on the Money List, but I don't like to think too much about that,” said Ciganda who won titles at the Deloitte Ladies Open 2012 and China Suzhou
Taihu Open 2012 in the season.
