Money leader Park ready to take on rivals at Sunrise LPGA Taiwan Championship 2012
South Korean Inbee Park is going to participate in the Sunrise LPGA Taiwan Championship 2012 with her head held high as the star golfer currently leads the LPGA Official Money List—and grabbing
a victory this week will further cement her position.
Park is among the hot favourites for the Sunrise LPGA Taiwan Championship 2012, scheduled to be staged from October 25-28, Yang Mei, Taoyuan, Taiwan, but it remains to be seen how confidently
she faces big names who are too eager to prove their mettle.
Park has been going places this season as she has racked up two titles so far, including the Sime Darby LPGA Malaysia 2012.
In addition to recording impressive victories, the South Korean star has also recorded 8 top-five finishes in the current season—something that helps her eclipse players like American Stacy
Lewis who has won three titles in the year 2012 so far.
Park’s overall earnings have now swelled to a whopping $1,979,926.
Despite brimming with confidence, winning or finding a spot inside the top 10 will not be easy for Park as other Asian contenders will also be trying to make the most of home crowd advantage.
Although on top of the money list thanks to top-10 finishes, Park’s best season is thought to be 2010 as she finished inside the top 10 in all four major championships.
The biggest challenge Park is likely to face will definitely be from Taiwanese Tseng, who is in high spirits not only because of her last year’s win, but also because of a rousing crowd support
she is sure to get.
Park took part in the LPGA Hana Bank Championship 2012 where she got into a tough battle against all the top-ranked LPGA stars. She posted an overall 211 to finish tied for the 15th
position along with fellow South Korean Haeji Kang and Jiyai Shin.
Tseng has expressed her confidence in her current form, although she has not been able to end her victory drought in the recent past.
“I think it’s very cool. I think my team and all my staff are doing a great job putting this all together. It  kind of reminded me, wow this is how much I’ve been through these few years with
my golf professional life,” she said while talking to the LPGA Tour on Tuesday.
