  1. In-state tuition is $270 per credit hour, which includes mandatory fees. Most classes are 3 credit hours each, so a full time student (12 credit hrs) taking 4 classes will pay $3,207 a semester, $6,414 a year. The price you pay when you register will be the price you pay for tuition for the next 4 years, as NEIU locks in your tuition rate. However, the mandatory fees go up every year, so you may pay a few dollars more as a result.

After you reach full time status (are taking 12 or more credit hours), the school automatically adds the price of health insurance onto your bill. If you do not need insurance, you must fill out a form in the registration office. I am not sure how much the insurance is, I have not used it since I have been there, and it increases in price every semester.

Also, if you do not need a parking pass, fill out a form at the registration office and the parking fee of $10.70 per credit hour will be deducted from your tuition.

NEIU does not have any dorms to live in. The price of housing in the area varies greatly with the neighborhood you decide to live in. Northeastern is close to the Kimball brown line stop and is served by several CTA bus lines. I commuted to and from the school which was a pain at times (I live 40 miles away!), but it worked for me.

    Hope this helps!
