Monfils has just taken a set off of Fed! Surprised? Impressions?

The match went how I thought it would go. The French take to Monfils like we use to take to Tim Henman. I would have been suprised however if Monfils took the match to five sets or even of had won it. Federer was class and Monfils was playing out of his skin. I hope Monfils builds on the rub he has had at the French, He has everything he just needs to put it all together. If he could do this, I think he will be up there with the top players however I think he lacks the mental attributes the likes of Nadal and Djokovic have.

So and Federer/Nadal final-no real suprises there considering the draw. Nadal took Djokovic apart apart from that late comeback and has been impressive since day 1. Federer has droped a few sets but aside from that has been impressive. I think Federer has a chance of taking a set from Nadal but I cannot foresee anything more. Nadal to win.

That is really impressive. Monfils is only ranked in the 50's and he chipped a set off of Fed. This is showing that ROger is vulnerable and can be defeated. GO MONFILS!!!

It's also impressive that he beat Ferrer and made it in the semifinals.

no I am not surprised- what people forget is that all if these players professional. They actually do have talent. And he has d**n near the entire crowd behind him so that gives someone a lot of talent taking away so much nervousness. And Federer has admitted that he gets nervous before almost every match. Having the crowd "against" you doesn't fire up everyone so this may not be firing Federer up. Unfortunately this is Federer so we know he won't be broken mentually unless it's Nadal. Monfils just blew a good chance to break Federer and go up 2-1. He at least held serve and it's 2-2. Let's hope he takes the second set!

In case u haven't picked this up by now, I'm not a Federer fan or supporter. I think it would be great to have a Frenchman in the finals for the country. Nadal will win but it still would be great

It is impressive for Monfils. He could put that on his resume. It'll be more an accomplishment if he can force a 5th set, or win the match. But he's refusing to go away and is making himself a nuisance for Federer. I did wonder though how Federer would play against a less than friendly crowd.

Federer really struggled to put this guy away. He can't possibly have much confidence after this match.

Yeah, I'm a bit surprise.  It shows how well he played and Federer are really vulnarable on clay.  This is the 3rd set that he had lost in the entire tournament.  While Nadal lost 0 set.  I predict that Nadal will beat Federer in 4 sets in the final if Federer makes it to the final (most likely).

I was surprised. I thought Roger would have had Monfils in 3sets lol if im honest. Im really impressed the way Monfils played and im glad he took a set of Federer. We all thought it would be a cakewalk for Roger having Gaels in semis but it proved not. It was entertaining, yes he came back and pulled it off but still it makes you question his performance sooo far this year on clay. All i can say is who knows what will happen in the final but im going to be even worse than i was with Rafa`s match against Novak... o0o im sooo excited and very nervous at the same time.

Vamos Rafa i hope he wins his 4th consecutive final here.:)!
