Mongolian visa only allows you to travel in Mongolia.

If you want to visit China, you will need a Chinese visa.

inner mongolia is part of china. i visited beijing and went to inner mongolia after that. and we need not have a mongolian visa, because inner mongolian is part of china. i have a singaporean passport, and it shouldn't be any different.

Yes if you are in Beijing. Go to the Mongolia consulate. But I don't think you need a visa for a short visit on an Aussie passport.
