Monica J Drake captures Women’s 100m freestyle gold: Day four – 2012 Arizona Invitational
Monica J Drake of Arizona-AZ captured gold medal of the Women’s 100m freestyle on fourth day of the 2012 Arizona Invitational in Mesa, Arizona on Monday, May 28.
The 21-year-old Drake demonstrated her stupendous efforts in the double lap freestyle discipline and stunned the aquatic crowd by winning gold medal of the discipline.
With her stupendous efforts, she remained nearly half body length faster from her following swimmer and proved her mettle for gold medal of the discipline with the timing of 57.35 seconds.
Her gold winning effort was followed by her teammate, Gracie A Finnegan, who remained 0.41 seconds apart and tapped the wall with the timing of 57.76 seconds for silver medal.
The second position holder was trailed by Emma K Darlington of Arizona-A, who stayed nearly 0.50 seconds apart and tapped the finishing wall for bronze medal with the timing of 58.12 seconds.
Fourth position of the discipline was secured by Cassie P Morrice of Gmsc-AZ, who stayed 1.24 seconds behind her and transpired on the finishing wall with the timing of 59.36 seconds.
The 20-year-old Morrice was chased by Rowan H Hauber of PSC-AZ, who suffered a deficit of 0.16 seconds and secured fifth position of the event with an effort of 59.52 seconds.
Sixth position of the discipline was obtained by Hauber’s teammate, Taryn J Collura, who remained almost one body length behind and tapped the finishing end with an effort of 1 minute and 00.28 seconds.
Collura was chased by Maggie A McCord of FORD-AZ, who was 0.41 seconds slower from overpowering her foregoing finisher and touched the wall with the timing of 1 minute and 00.69 seconds for seventh position.
Subsequently, Samantha Guttmacher of MAC-AZ, who failed to surpass any of her challengers throughout the event, finished eighth in the event by producing a time of 1 minute and 01.81 seconds.
The arena appreciated commendable efforts of all participants while the position holders received medals and accolades for their laudable efforts in the 100m discipline. Furthermore, the session came to an end after the completion of all planned events in men and Women’s corner.
