Age 51, passed away Tuesday, April 29, 2008 at home, surrounded by her loved ones and went to her Eternal Home with Jesus. Monica was born in Lansing on August 24, 1956, the daughter of Daniel and Annie (Modder) Paulino.

After retiring from General Motors, she became active and loved her community, becoming active with the Coachlight Neighborhood Association and Southside Community Center Board member. She loved her friends and family, especially her grandson, Justice. Monica saw the beauty in nature, looking forward to spring and her beloved tulips. She loved creating something out of nothing, with a little bit of paint, she painted a picture; with bits of metal, she made jewelry; with a bit of fabric she created quilts. Monica truely was a lover of arts and crafts, but she will be remembered for her ability to "Power Shop", always able to find a bargain.

Monica was preceded in death by her parents, Daniel Paulino, Jr. in 1998 and Annie Sibylla Modder in 2003. Surviving are her loving husband of 30 years, Martin; sons, Jacob and Justin; grandson, Justice; aunt and uncle, Viola and Bill Smith; niece, Richard and Danielle Vermett; great-niece, Ashley Bush; great-nephews, Matthew Parks and Adam Vermett; special friends, Jason and Lisa Coates, Steve and Barbara Czerneski, Rich and Jodi Little, Doug and Debbie Watson; and a host of relatives and friends.

A Celebration of Monica's life will be held Saturday, 11:00 a.m. at the Palmer, Bush & Jensen Family Funeral Homes, Holt Chapel, 5035 Holt Rd.with the Rev. Robert L. Jenkins officiating. The family will receive friends Friday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home and Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until service time. I'm sorry, I couldn't find an obituary. The Lansing newspaper only has the last 30 days on their site. You'd need to contact the library. There was a mention of her death in the City Council minutes that gives info about her family.
