Monika Stitski captures Women’s 400m IM gold: Day two – 2012 Mutual of Omaha Swimvitational
Monika Stitski of Wisconsin Aquatics captured gold medal of the Women’s 400m Individual medley (IM) on day two of the 2012 Mutual of Omaha Swimvitational in Nebraska on Saturday, June 9.
Stitski, who occupied the fastest qualification spot of the discipline, demonstrated her astonishing efforts in the playoff of the distant IM event and captured gold medal. Her invincible effort remained considerably ahead of her closest opponent and she made her way to the finishing wall for the title of the event.
The 22-year-old Stitski stayed considerably ahead of her opponents and cruised her way to the finishing wall for the crown of the discipline by producing a time of 4 minutes and 50.78 seconds.
The champion was chased by Leah Stevens of Lakeside Swim Team, who stayed prominent for silver medal of the discipline by reporting a time of 4 minutes and 53.22 seconds.
Third spot of the discipline was secured by Alexandra Suppan of University of Denver, who stayed two body lengths apart and posted a time of 4 minutes and 55.40 seconds.
Similarly, fourth position of the 400m discipline was secured by Abigail Chin of Cardinal Aquatics-KY, who stayed 0.28 seconds slower and posted a time of 4 minutes and 55.68 seconds.
Next was the playoff of men’s equivalent event, where Michael Weiss of Wisconsin Aquatics finished first in the event. The 21-year-old Weiss, who qualified as the second best swimmer in the playoff, elevated his efforts and ensured his place on top of the podium with the timing of 4 minutes and 27.33 seconds.
The gold medallist was chased by Young Tae Seo of Swim Pasadena-CA, who 0.15 seconds apart and secured second position of the discipline with the timing of 4 minutes and 27.48 seconds.
Seo was chased by Trevor Levalley of Wyoming Aquatics, who failed to sustain his spot in the playoff and clocked a timing of 4 minutes and 29.91 seconds.
Subsequently, Alexander Tooley of Loveland Swim Club, who finished fourth with an effort of 4 minutes and 33.49 seconds.
Furthermore, the session ended after the conclusion of all planned events in Men and Women’s corner.
