Monisha Kaltenborn believes Sauber are close to win a race in 2012 – Formula 1 news
Sauber chief executive officer, Monisha Kaltenborn believes that they are very close to score a grand prix victory in the 2012 Formula 1 season after Sergio Perez’s incredible second podium finish in the Italian GP.
Perez delivered a superb performance in the preceding race held at Autodromo di Monza in which he came second after taking a start from 12th grid position. Moreover, he surprised everyone with his pace when he passed the Ferrari drivers, Felipe
Massa and Fernando Alonso during the ending laps.
Additionally, he also reduced the gap to the race winner, Lewis Hamilton of McLaren who dominated with a massive lead, to just 4.3 seconds towards the end of the race.
After seeing the Mexican driver’s performance in the last race, Kaltenborn is very much confident that they can achieve their race victory soon in the season ahead as according to her, they have got the potential.
"It's very difficult to say (that we will win), because so many things have to be right to win a race," Kaltenborn said. "I think we are very close to it, and all we can do is just make sure that we don't make mistakes on the track and then I'm sure it will
work out.”
In addition, she said that they have a car which is competent enough of scoring wins. She also said that she is very pleased with her team’s performance in the season until now and hopes to see more improvements in the upcoming season.
Besides, she said that they are expecting to receive more sponsorship in the approaching season as she thinks that all the investors will be attracted towards them after watching their performance in the previous races.
"I think with this podium now it will make a lot of people believe in it that our level is quite good this year. Performance is all what potential sponsors look at and I do hope that this will give us more boost," she added.
The Swiss team is undeniably one of the most competitive teams in the midfield and it will be exciting to see how they come up in the remaining seven races ahead.
