Monisha Kaltenborn thinks Nico Hulkenberg will bring more consistency in 2013 – Formula 1 news
Sauber team principal, Monisha Kaltenborn has said that Force India driver, Nico Hulkenberg who is going to join their team in 2013 as Sergio Perez’s replacement will bring more consistency as compared to the Mexican.
Perez has performed quite convincingly in the season so far and has achieved remarkable results in few races. Moreover, he has signed a new multi-year contract with McLaren and will race as Jenson Button’s teammate from the next year onwards.
On the other hand, Lewis Hamilton of the Woking based team has planned to join Mercedes in the next season and will replace Michael Schumacher who has decided to take retirement at the end of this year.
Even though, the 22-year-old has been deemed as one of the most talented youngsters in the sport and has secured three podiums for the Swiss team in the season until now. However, he has not been able to attain promising results for his team with consistency.
Nonetheless, Kaltenborn believes that Perez’s recent form has nothing to do with his contract with the British team.
“That's a target we clearly have, and I don't think this has anything to do with Sergio signing up somewhere else,” Kaltenborn told ESPN exclusively.
Furthermore, she said that they are looking forward to perform with more consistency in the coming year.
“I think he's making his experience - it is his second season - and that's part of the package you have with this kind of driver. So I don't think there is any link over there but it is clearly one of our targets that next year we have to have more consistency,”
she said.
Besides, she said that they are aiming to beat the Silver Arrows in this year’s constructors’ championship and the points which their driver, Kamui Kobayashi secured in the Abu Dhabi GP held at Yas Marina Circuit are very valuable for them.
“The points which we've gained now are extremely valuable for that fight,” she added.
The Hinwil based team has been considered as one of the most competent mid-field contender in this year and it will be interesting to see how they perform in the remaining two races.
