Monisha Kaltenborn thinks Sergio Perez is pushing too hard – Formula 1 news
Sauber team principal, Monisha Kaltenborn thinks that Sergio Perez is pushing too hard to achieve better results for his team which might have hampered his performance in the last few races.
Perez has been considered as one of the most talented youngsters in the field and has performed tremendously well in the season so far.
Moreover, he has secured three podium finishes for his team and has impressed everyone with his amazing driver skills. However, he has not been able to score even a single point after signing a new multi-year contract with McLaren where he is going to replace
Lewis Hamilton in the next season.
Kaltenborn has said that the Mexican driver is taking too much tension to attain competitive results for his team which may have hindered his performance in the last few races.
“He knows how important it is for us to score at the remaining races,” Kaltenborn said. “Maybe it's his inexperience that sometimes pushes him to do more than he should.”
Nevertheless, she said that they are planning to have a conversation with the 22-year-old so as to know if he is having any kind of issue in which they can help him.
“That's nothing we can reproach him for because he's trying his best to do something good for the team before he leaves,” she said. “But we definitely will talk to him, although I think he is mature enough to know what is at stake.”
Besides, she said that although Perez is going to leave their team at the end of this season, but he knows very well that his performance in the remaining two grands prix is very important for his career ahead.
“He knows doing well in his current team is also very good for his career when he leaves for the next team,” she added.
Additionally, she said that they are trying their best to make the essential preparations to come up stronger in the last two rounds of the current season.
It will be thrilling to see that whether they will be able to beat Mercedes in the remainder of the season or not.
