  1. Its all about safety.

Though he's there on VOP (though we don't know the original charge), the other offenders in his pod/cell block are there for various other reasons (dope, murder, ADW, etc.)

We can't allow your "honey" to bring in contraband.  It may not be something he wants to do, but he may be blackmailed or extorted into do it against his will.  It happens all the time.

    It's really that simple.

  2. I know exactly what you are going through, only from the other side of the glass.

The reason for the monitor (or no contact) visits, is ostensibly for security reasons.  The real reason is that LE wants to make inmates' lives as miserable as possible.  The systems strives to break every connection an offender has, to isolate him physically, emotionally, and mentally.  They cannot isolate an offender spiritually, thank God for the 1st Amendment.

Best advice, hang in there.  As bad as it is for you, it is as bad for him.  Write to him as often as you can.  Send him pictures; pictures are like Christmas in the mail.  Just let him know you are there.  It will be over soon.  Never soon enough, but soon.

    Good luck.

  3. Visitation through monitors is much more cost effective, time-saving, and SAFER than face to face meetings.  The inmate does not need to be transferred to a different area, the visitors don't need to be checked as much, and there is a 0% chance of visitors sneaking anything into the jail/prison.

Video visiting also allows for recording of visits...amazing how many people talk about their crimes.
