Swansea City defender, Garry Monk, acknowledged Brendan Rodgers’ services for the Welsh club and asked the fans to treat him with respect when his side takes on Liverpool on Wednesday.
The Northern Irishman will go against his former team in the fourth round of the Capital One Cup fixture.
Earlier, the 39-year old managed the Swans for a period of almost two years, helping them secure entry into the top-division.

Rodgers was a hugely popular figure amongst the fans and the players at the Liberty Stadium. However, his departure came under acrimonious circumstances, with many fans accusing him of turning his back on his club.
Nonetheless, Monk has called upon the Swansea supporters to credit the Ulsterman after everything that he had done for the club.
He expressed his hope that they would treat him with respect when his side goes head-to-head against the Reds on Wednesday at Anfield.
“Brendan’s contribution was monumental, he got us into the Premier League,” he told the reporters in an interview.
“We know all about the resources of the club, so he deserves massive credit because it was a monumental effort.”

The veteran defender revealed that his side will look to draw confidence from their previous fixture, but at the same time, was wary of the enormity of the task in hand.
“We realise what a difficult game it is. We’re up against a fantastic club with a great history and it’s never going to be easy at Anfield. But if we play like we did at Manchester City, we will have a great chance,” he added.
