Monkerty Tunkerty favourite for Coldunell Amateur Jockeys Association Amateur Riders´ Handicap Chase
Monkerty Tunkerty will pose a threat to his opponents in the Coldunell Amateur Jockeys Association Amateur Riders´ Handicap Chase (for John Dunsdon Memorial Cup) at Sandown in England on Friday, December 7, 2012.
He has the ability to be competitive in races over fences and the punters will definitely be interested in gambling some bets on him. However, it will be a challenge for him to deliver a strong result on a soft ground.
The weather at Sandown has not been good for racing over the past couple of days. Due to this, the organisers will be concerned and they might have to call a couple of inspections before finalising anything in the class-3 contest.
A total of 11 runners have been attracted towards the 3 mile, 110 yard competition, which will start at 14:55 GMT. They will have to display a solid stamina in order to last the entire distance, especially on a rain affected ground.
The winner will be awarded a cash prize of £7,795 in the end, thus all of the contestants will be pushing hard to take the top spot.
According to the bookmakers, the best chances of victory are with Dashing George, who has got plenty of experience in chase events. However, there is a big question mark over his consistency, which will not help him get the attention of the punters.
The 10-year-old gelding has been in the sport for quite some time and knows how to handle pressure at this level. He would have liked normal racing conditions though, as a wet track will demand an extra effort from him and the rest of the runners as well.
The Dr Richard Newland’s trainee raced under similar conditions last time around and failed to meet the expectations of his team back then. He will be looking to make a comeback, but things will not be easy at all.
Coming back to Monkerty Tunkerty, he is not very young, but does not have a lot of experience either. Despite that, it will be a good idea to gamble more on him compared to others.
The Miss Jessica Westwood’s trainee won his first race of the 2012 season and will be hoping for a similar result under jockey, Mr Joshua Guerriero.
