Monkey Bread recipe?

I'm looking for a monkey bread receipe - either one from a cooking website or your own. I checked bettycrocker.com, but all they have is monkey tail bread - not what I'm looking for. I also don't want the receipe that contains raisins/nuts etc.

  1. I use pillsbury biscuits (2 or 3 packs) and cut each one into 4 and roll into balls and coat with cinnamon and sugar. Place them into a bundt pan or any other pan and bake according to package instructions but you will have to watch it as it may take a little longer.  I make an icing out of confectioners sugar and milk.  It's a short cut but well worth it.  Oh yeah after I put them in the pan I sprinkle more cinnamon and sugar. (come to think of it, I put some in the pan before I put them in too.  I also coat the pan with margarine or butter.) Feel free to modify this any way you like.

  2. My mom uses this recipe and it's excellent!  The sauce is good and gooey, although it takes a little more work than some of the other ones listed.  We also like to put either maraschino cherries or pecans in the bottom of the pan so they come out on top when it's done.  This makes it easy to eat around the nuts but if someone in your family likes them they can still have them.

    MONKEY BREAD

3 packages of buttermilk biscuit tubes

    1 cup sugar (divided)

    2 teaspoons cinnamon

    1 cup butter

    1/2 cup brown sugar

Take 3 packages of buttermilk biscuit tubes (10 per roll) and cut each roll into 4 pieces. Drop roll pieces into 1 cup sugar and 2 teaspoons cinnamon. Drop sugar-coated pieces into a well buttered Bundt pan (don't squish roll pieces when placing them in the Bundt pan).

Put 1/2 cup of the left-over sugar/cinnamon mix and 1/2 cup packed brown sugar and 1 cup of butter (2 sticks) into a small saucepan.

Bring this mixture just to a boil; remove from heat immediately. Carefully drizzle over the roll pieces.

Bake at 350°F for 30 minutes.

Cool slightly in an upright position, then tip pan over onto a plate to remove monkey pull-apart bread.

  3. Here's a few:

  4. I make two Monkey breads but savory one. The same method but you roll the dough balls in garlic butter and place in a Bundt pan and bake. You can add any herb you like to the butter. I make my dough in the bread machine.

    RECIPE #1

    2 1/2 cups AP flour

    2 tblsp sugar

    1/2 tsp salt

    1 tblsp butter, softened

    1 egg, beaten

    1 tblsp milk

    2/3 cup lukewarm water

    1 tsp dry yeast

1/3 cup melted butter (I add garlic powder to this, as much as you like, I like lots. I sometimes add other seasonings as well)

Place ingredients, except the melted butter, in bread maker in the order listed. Let stand 5 minutes. Use dough setting. remove when done and place in greased bowl, turning to coat. Cover and let rise 20-30-minutes.

Punch down and form into 25-30 balls. Dip each in the melted butter mixture. Arrange in layers in 10 inch tube pan. Cover and let rise 30 -40 minutes until doubled. Bake at 350 for 20 minutes. Cool 5 minutes and then invert. Drizzle with addition butter if desired. Serve warm.

You can make this a sweet bread by sprinkling with sugar and cinnamon instead of the garlic.

    RECIPE # 2

1/2 c water (Welbuilt machine add 2 tablespoons more water)

    1/2 c sour cream

    3 cups AP flour

    1 1/2 tsp salt

1 1/2 tablespoons butter or margarine

    3 tablespoons sugar

1 1/2 tsp dry yeast (for all machine except Welbuilt-use 2 tsp)

4 tablespoons melted butter or margarine

    2 cloves garlic, minced

    1/4 tsp dried thyme

    1/4 tsp dried oregano

    1/4 tsp dried marjoram

Place first 7 ingredients in bread pan, select Dough setting, and press start.

When dough has risen long enough, then machine will beep. Turn off machine, remove bread pan, turn out dough onto lightly floured surface. Gently roll and stretch dough into a 24 inch rope.

In a small bowl, combine melted butter, garlic, and herbs. Set aside.

With a sharp knife, divide dough into 40 small pieces. Butter a 9 inch ring mold or 9x5x3 loaf pan. Dip each piece into herb butter mixture and place in layers around the ring or loaf pan. Cover and let rise in warm place 30-45 minutes until doubled.

Preheat oven to 375. Bake 15-20 minutes until brown. Turn out onto a plate immediatley then invert onto a serving dish. Derve warm.

I also use this quick one:

    Monkey Bread

    4 cans biscuits

    1 stick butter

    1 cup sugar

    3 Tsp cinnamon

    1 cup chopped nuts

Sprinkle nuts in bottom of bundt pan sprayed with cooking spray. Cut each biscuit into 4 pcs and roll each in melted butter, then toss into cinnamon and sugar mix. Drop each pc into bundt pan. Bake @ 350 30- 40 minutes.
