Mono Vs. Multi-Channel Subwoofer Amplifiers?

What's the difference?

Also, what would make the best amp for 800 watt peak sub.

  1. mono means there is one channel, these are designed for connecting on subwoofer or one speaker. (you can wire up more than one on a mono but they must be the same speaker or same woofers that you are wiring.)

    multi-channel has multiple outputs that you can control individually. this is good for putting speakers on one channel and a subwoofer on another.

    this is also good for having two subs

    as far as your sub i have no idea what amp would be best i dont know any of the specs of your sub.  just the "max watts" doesnt tell nearly as much about a sub as most beginners in audio think it does


  2. Mono is a one channel amp hence the name. This is kind that you want to use for your sub. Multi channel amps are typically used for speakers however they can be bridged to work with a sub.
