  1. Briad is stronger, but mono is more dependable with less chance of line foul ups.

  2. go with briad. keep money for gas.

  3. braid is stronger  for it`s size but won`t stretch. so if you find the fish a little spooky you must add a piece of mono when a fish hits the mono break es because of no stretch. mono stretches but is weaker for it`s size but is more stealthy. I would use a fluorocarbon line Berkley Vanish, Seaguar carbon pro,Pline fluorocarbon,Seaguar fluorocarbon. for those spooky fish in a heavy wt. depending on the size fish you are trying to catch.    check out http://www.basspro.com/saltwater

  4. I'll let you decide but give you the tools.

Mono line is good when you need low visability line. Mono stretches more than braid on hook sets. considering a lot of saltwater fish have softer mouths and palets than fresh water fish it will be a bit more forgiving on the set and will help on not spooking fish

Braided line is tougher, thinner, and does not stretch. It also does not twist as much when when reeled in and casts smoother.  about the biggest con of braided is that if you are going for a line shy fish then it may cause you problems. also be aware of your hooksets. I am guilty of this on braided line; do not yank the jaw off a fish. I have reeled in fish on braided line with broken or torn jaws. Considering I catch and release 50% of the time I do not want to injure fish more than they already are after a fight.

  5. Depends on where you are fishing.  Mono for open water with high visability.  You will need to be able to finesse big fish in so you don't break your line.  Braided for tight spaces water with a lot of obstruction.  You know your line won't pop when have to hoss your fish or your line is getting dragged over junk.  I just started using the braided.  It has low (if any) memory, but it doesn't have the flexibility and bounce that mono does.

  6. I've only recently been exposed to braid, and I've never gone back.  Mono has almost 20% stretch and has none. Besides, if a big snook tries to escape into the mangroves, braid will not only pull him back out, but also, it will be near impossible fo him to break off.Definitelt go with braid. Just a suggestion, but you may want to look into Daiwa's Samurai Braid; they employ an eight-strand weave for a super-smooth surface. Click here:

  7. Braid -  Fireline is good stuff fresh or salt water - I've caught trout with the very light stuff w/ no issues...and also fished off of boats in the bay w/out any problems...comes in different colors too - helps with visibility issues...
