Monogram set to catch victory at Catterick – Hunters’ Chase Preview
Victor Thompson’s young gelding, Monogram, is likely to accomplish the third victory of his career in his first ever outing at Catterick racecourse on Wednesday, March 7.
In the John Wade Skip Hire Novices’ Hunters’ Chase, the talented horse is geared up to compete against 15 runners including Chef De Cour, Cherryland, Classical Music, Mister Kay Bee, Racing Ace, Rugged Jem, Sam Mccoombe, Scrum V, Stagecoach Diamond, Supreme
Plan, The Rustlin Rhino, Was I Right, Willywont He, Miss Tosca and Northern Revoque.
The Class 6 contest of 3m1f110y distance will begin at 4:50 (GMT). The winner will bag £811 of prize money.
Monogram has been delivering impressive performances since the very beginning of his career. After making his debut with a mega success in October 2009, the brilliant gelding went on to bag his second and last triumph in October 2010.
During his last four outings during 2011, the V Thompson-owned runner exhibited outstanding performances.
Since grabbing second spot in his last start at Perth on June 5, 2011, Monogram has been out-of-action. He has undergone a lot of schooling during this period.
At the moment, the energetic gelding looks to be quite confident and momentous to show a big fight at Catterick today. His chances to finish first are more than 80 percent.
Among Monogram’s competitors, there are two big names, Chef De Cour and Racing Ace, who have potential to perform well today.
Chef De Cour accomplished a fabulous hat-trick during May-November 2005. His last victory came in November 2007.
The Miss Clare Hobson-trained bay gelding has been on rest since finishing second in his last outing in April 2011. He is likely to show enough strength at Catterick today.
On the other hand, Racing Ace has run for three times to date. He made his debut in April 2008. During his last two starts during March-April 2010, the gelding bagged second and fourth spots.
Today, he is returning to action after a gap of almost two years. He may cause an upset if he runs to his best.
By and large, the Catterick track will witness an awe-inspiring contest today. Victory will not be an easy task for Monogram. Let us see who gains what. Good luck to all the runners.
