  1. I keep answering this question it seems but maybe folks aren't getting the message.

MOST musical auditions are going to begin with you singing, then there will be a "movement" or dance combination.  I use the word "movement" because some shows don't really require a great deal of dancing, so the director just wants to see if you can move well (like Into the Woods); others require all-out, ball-breaking dance and if you can't keep up, you're not in (like A Chorus Line).  After all of this, you are usually asked to a call-back audition and asked to read from the script against others up for consideration for your part and with the characters that you'll be in scenes with.  That's not to say that there might not be a few misguided teachers who require a monologue, but for the most part, these are a tiny minority

  2. find something in a similar age group and genre.  That will show them how you will be in that role

  3. I have done some research on places on the internet where you can find monologues of all types, including teen monologues, monologues for girls, women, men, comical monologues, short comedic monologues, etc. I also answer a lot of questions about how to effectively memorize a monologue as well as about common mistakes that actors often make while performing a monologue for an audition. On this page on my site for new and aspiring actors, you will find all that information including links to the types of monologues you are looking for. http://www.actingcareerstartup.com/comic...

    Good luck in your audition.
