What is an atypical dramatic monologue that you can think of off-hand? I need a real tear jerking piece, that's not well known.

  1. in wicked, halfway through defying gravity, madame morrible appears as though she is addressing the nation of Oz. She says, "Citizens of Oz....there is an enemy who must be found and captured! Beleive NOTHING she says. She's Evil...responsible for the cruel mutalation of these poor innocent monkeys! Her green skin is but and outward manifestorium to her twisted nature. This....this repulsion. this....distortion. This....this....WICKED WITCH!!!" this is a great and bone chilling monologue when u actully see it in the play. its not to tear jerking, but, when saying the line about the poor innocent monkeys, you can sob a little, which Madame Morrible does to convince Oz that she cares about the monkeys...which she actually doesnt. If u want to c it performed for reference (which I HIGHLY suggest) go on youtube and type in exactly: defying gravity. watch the second one down. u dont see madame morrible because the camera man didnt pan the camera, but her voice is enough to demonstrate how it should be done. U may want to watch different madame morrbiles do the monologue, since each one adds their own flare....but Carole Shelley (the original, and the one in the video i recommended) does it best, in my opinion. good luck
