In Monopoly, the chance card which says: "you are assessed for street repairs, pay $45 for each house and $115 for each hotel"; does this apply to all houses and hotels on the board, or just the ones that you own? It is worded very vaguely, are there any clarifications on the card?

  1. Any card picked applies only to the person who picked the card.

  2. it says YOU are assesed for street repairs. That means you pay for the ones YOU own.

  3. No, it only counts for the houses-hotels that you own and are built on your lots... If u have none, then you dont pay anything at all...

(Personally, the most stupid card in the game, can crash you later in the game, when you've culminated money and have built loads of houses :P )

  4. It applies to the ones you own, not other people's properties! Yeah, it says the street, but it means yours!

    Your welcome!!!

  5. Yep, that's one of those "house rules" opportunities.

My logic says, "why would I pay for street repairs on other people's houses??"  But, I've played with others who've counted every house on the board.  Yeah, that's REAL expensive.

I've also played where the Other players voted on which ONE of MY whole streets to assess.  If I owned and had developed, say, the THREE greens verses the TWO purples, then I'd owe for (max.) 12 house vs. 8, or 3 hotels vs. 2.

Still a significant cash outlay, but not a game killer.

What are your favorite "House Rules?"

Mine's gotta be "all assessments, fines and taxes go to the center of the board and whoever lands on Free Parking gets the cash."  Like manna from heaven.

  6. well it doesent sayne thing in the rule book

but my best gues would be for every ones not just yours
