Monopoly.. can you un-mortgage if it is not your turn?

2 players..I had to mortgage a property to pay rent. My husband then rolled doubles and landed on one of my other properties. He paid me, but then refused to let me un-mortgage my first property because it was 'not my turn'. Sure enough, he rolled again and landed on my mortgaged property and claimed he owed me nothing. I lost the game because of it. Who is right? Can I un-mortgage property in between his rolls?

  1. No you have to wait for your turn.  This is because if he landed on your property before it was supposed to be unmortgaged.... then would he be expected to pay? You need to wait until it is your turn and before you roll the dice.  This means that you are also not supposed to buy hotels, etc until it is your turn.

  2. No, you can only un-mortgage properties during your turn.

  3. lol...read the rule book and play fair...yea, i'll hate to loose to against my husband....guess  you spent too much money or owed a lot of rent

  4. it all depends on the rules you set up .

most of the time you can collect money if it morrage if you set it up that way .there is to kinds of rules to the game it self .

one way is to cumage it your self

    or use the interanl rules

  5. The official tournament rules don't specifically address unmortgaging, but imply that you can at any time (which is how I've ruled in the tournaments I've run for Monopoly):

"Timing of Buying and Trading You can build or trade at any time, but please be

courteous! Try to schedule such transactions so they occur between the turns of other players."

    "Unimproved properties can be mortgaged

through the Bank at any time."

  6. No. You must wait until it is your turn.
