The team will ensure to give a good run and continue with it for the rest of the 2011 MotoGP season. The event is due to take place at the legendary Bugatti Circuit in Le Mans and the interest feature is that the team’s primary sponsor, Monster, is also the event organiser.
Colin Edwards will head into the French race weekend with full confidence after scoring a good sixth place finish in the third round, bwin Gran Premio de Portugal, held at fortnight. On the following day’s test session, Edwards was able to make some fast laps and stand at sixth place on the final time sheet of the day. He worked on the different suspension settings to improve the traction at the rear end of his M1.
The veteran American has given some good results at the 4.815 km track. One of his three poles seats of premier class was at the Le Mans in 2007. Adding to his success, two of his 11 rostrum places have been claimed at the French soil. The Le Mans circuit is a permanent venue of MotoGP event calendar since 2000.
Colin Edwards said, "I am really looking forward to Le Mans because it is a track where I've had a lot of success at in the past. The Yamaha YZR-M1 has always worked well there too with the sweet handling characteristics of our bike suiting the layout of the track.”
The sole Brit rider in the premier class, Cal Crutchlow will be competing to continue his fine rookie season and the Tech3 rider is also keen to learn a new track to adding on his experience. The young rider never had a run before on Jerez and Estoril, but his determination accomplished him in qualifying and finished in the top-ten positions in both events.
Cal Crutchlow said, "I'm heading to Le Mans with a lot of confidence, even though it is another track I've only ever seen before on TV. I know it won't be an easy task but Estoril was obviously another great weekend forms me and then to finish fourth quickest in the test showed what I am capable of.”
Once again he made an impressive performance by hanging in top-ten positions at the one day test session held after the Portuguese round, which was a crucial practice for this race weekend.
