Monster Yamaha Tech3 rider Cal Crutchlow eager for British Grand Prix – MotoGP news
Monster Yamaha Tech3 rider Cal Crutchlow is eagerly awaiting his home event, the AirAsia British Grand Prix to be held on June 12, 2011.
Crutchlow said, “I can't wait for my home race in Silverstone. Ever since I knew I was joining the Monster Yamaha Tech 3 Team, I have been thinking about the British Grand Prix.”
The Brit also added, “The race couldn't be coming at a better time after I scored the best result of my MotoGP career only a few days ago in Catalunya. That gave the whole team a big lift and we can go into this weekend with a top six as a realistic goal.”
Since the start of the 2011 MotoGP season, Cal Crutchlow has been racing on unfamiliar tracks in the first five rounds. However, he is considered to be a fast learner. At the upcoming British Grand Prix though, he will have the advantage of being experienced
like other fellow riders.
In the 2010 World Superbike Championship (WSBK) season, he won the event at Silverstone while starting the race from pole position. His victory was marked on the new layout of the Silverstone circuit, which is hosting the comeback of MotoGP. He has also
raced on the older version of the Silverstone track which was shorter than the present layout.
Crutchlow said that the event seems to have been perfectly timed as he scored his MotoGP career best finish at seventh place in the Catalan GP last weekend. In addition to his best finish, he has also qualified sixth for two events in the 2011 season.
He likes the British circuit and feels good to race on it. He has already scored two wins at his home ground in the WSBK championship. Crutchlow is hopeful he will be the fastest since he has prior experience of the track.
He also added that the 2010 British event saw Yamaha wining the round with Jorge Lorenzo. He assumes that Yamaha have a good race package for Silverstone and can be a winner again.
The British rider is ready to give his home crowd his best performance and is all praise for his fans who have supported him well in every event.
