Monster Yamaha Tech3 rider Cal Crutchlow finishes amongst points at Sachsenring – MotoGP news
Monster Yamaha Tech3 rider Cal Crutchlow came 14th at the eni Motorrad Grand Prix Deutschland after struggling to find the right setup for his M1.
Crutchlow said, “Obviously, I can't be happy to have finished 14th because I believe I should be fighting inside the top ten. But taking the positives out of a difficult race, I was able to fight for the whole race with riders that are a lot more experienced
than me, and who have much more knowledge of this track.”
The Brit rider in the Tech3 squad was able to manage the intense heat. He raced under pressure while holding Hector Barbera, Randy de Puniet and Karel Abraham and sustained his 11th position until he went off the race line in the third corner
of the 26th lap. After running wide, he dropped back to 14th position.
Crutchlow added, “I really wanted to finish 11th but when I ran wide with a few laps remaining, it was always going to be an uphill battle to get back three places on a track like this that is tight and twisty.”
Following his wide run with few laps remaining on the countdown, he lost all the effort he made from the start of the race. Still he did not let it get away easily and pushed to regain the position he lost but he did not have many laps remaining in the race.
Like the Assen and Mugello events, he was lacking grip on his Tech3 M1 again which held him from pushing his bike to the limit. Even after making big changes in the setup, the bike was not showing any improvement at all. The imperfect race setting was the
biggest hindrance for the British rider.
Crutchlow is confident of the data collected at the German Grand Prix as the team claims to learn something new from the tough race weekend. It will be a significant help for the Red Bull U.S. Grand Prix scheduled to take place this weekend, July 24, 2011.
The British rider is looking forward to gain confidence and sort out his M1 as soon as possible. He will aim to fight for top ten positions at the Laguna Seca circuit. Let’s see if he is able to manage that.
