Monster Yamaha Tech3 rider Cal Crutchlow looking beyond Assen GP disappointment – MotoGP news
Monster Yamaha Tech3 rider Cal Crutchlow is determined to forget the disappointing Assen event and move on to Gran Premio d’Italia TIM scheduled to take place this weekend, July 3, 2011.
The sole British rookie rider in MotoGP class faced a hard time at his home event, the Silverstone GP. Crutchlow broke his right collarbone during the qualifying practice of the race and at the recent Assen event, the Brit rider faced a problem on the front
end of his Tech3 M1.
Crutchlow said, “I was disappointed last weekend at Assen because I'm sure I could have got my best MotoGP result, but I'm determined to make up for it with a strong performance at Mugello.”
Earlier in Dutch race weekend, he made a strong comeback in the practice sessions and scored a decent sixth place in race qualifying. He was placed behind Andrea Dovizioso. With the race start, he was engaged in a battle with veteran Valentino Rossi for
fourth place in the race.
The Brit further added, “After all the effort I put in to ride, it was a pity not to finish where I should have done, but I can't change what happened and now my focus is solely on doing the best job I can at Mugello.”
Shortly after the Assen GP start, he was not content with the grip of his M1 as the track was slippery and the front tyre was wearing out with little chips coming out of it. He decided to return to the garage for a bike check up and avoid a crash in wet
conditions. In the end, he managed a 14th place finish at Assen.
The Mugello track is newly paved with fresh asphalt and is also new for Crutchlow to experience his premier class rookie season. His feels the track will be a little difficult to master. The sole British rider in MotoGP class has done a good job at the circuits
on which he has no previous experience.
Crutchlow is optimistic to deliver a great performance at Mugello. Let’s see how he fares this weekend.
