The preseason test sessions were held at Sepang and Qatar including the season opener round at Losail circuit in Qatar. During the first Sepang preseason test he scored ninth position in the complete session.
Coming to second session at same venue, Sepang International Circuit, he was fourth on the first day. However during the next two days he maintained his position in the top ten riders.
The final preseason test was held at the Losail circuit where the season opener event was also due to take place. At Qatar test session he was able to stand in top ten positions with ninth position in final time sheet of both days.
