Monster Yamaha Tech3 rider Colin Edwards to make 150th Grand Prix start at Motorland Aragon – MotoGP
Monster Yamaha Tech3 rider Colin Edwards will be participating in the 150th MotoGP race of his career at the Motorland Aragon.
The 14th MotoGP event will take place in Spain on September 18, 2011.
Edwards said, “I can't believe I'm going to be making my 150th MotoGP appearance this weekend. It feels like only yesterday since I moved from World Superbikes but I've had an awesome time in MotoGP and long may it continue.”
Although it will be a milestone race of his motorcycle racing career but he is not taking it to his head. In fact, Edwards is aiming to perform at his best to gain some good points for his Tech3 squad. Currently he stands at ninth position in the MotoGP
championship points’ table, while his teammate Cal Crutchlow is 15th at the moment.
Edwards added, “The Aragon track has a really cool layout and I can't wait to get back there, even though my result wasn't the best last season. And I'm definitely keen to bounce back from Misano, which didn't end how I expected at all.”
While commenting on Aragon, Edwards added that the circuit is unique and has a good layout. He said he was looking forward to going there for the race weekend. Though his 2010 event at Motorland Aragon was not good but this time he hopes to deliver a better
performance.
At Misano, the Texan rider was hunted by a severe arm pump issue which cost him his race. At that moment, he was convinced of retiring from the race but somehow he managed to complete the event. His race weekend at Misano was going perfectly well until the
problem on the raceday.
Now after a two-week gap, he is considerably fit and aims to be strong for the third Spanish event of the 2011 season.
He has been part of the Yamaha family since 2005 where he has spent three seasons with the factory team and four seasons with the satellite squad to date. His MotoGP was in the 2004 season in which he managed two podiums and a fifth position in the championship
with the Aprilia team.
