Monster Yamaha Tech3 signs Andrea Dovizioso for 2012 season along Cal Crutchlow – MotoGP news
Monster Yamaha Tech3 team boss Herve Poncharal has signed Andrea Dovizioso for the debut 1000cc MotoGP season starting from 2012.
Currently, the Repsol Honda rider Dovizioso was engaged in talks with Honda Racing Corporation and Tech3 squads. LCR Honda had also offered a 2012 deal to the Italian rider.
However, Dovizioso was in search to secure a full factory setup RC213V but the deal could not take place. On the other side, Herve Poncharal was able to tempt him into the offer.
Dovizioso said, “I'm happy to have reached this agreement with Tech 3 for next year and I want to thank Herve Poncharal for the opportunity he is giving me. I am excited to become part of Hervé's squad and to be teamed with Cal.”
Dovizioso added that it will be great season and amazing experience to race with a new machine and entirely new squad. After confirming a seat for 2012, he is aiming to finish the season in at least third seat by scoring further podium finishes.
Herve Poncharal, Team Manager of Monster Yamaha Tech3 Team said, “I am delighted that a rider of Andrea's stature has decided to commit his future to Tech 3 and Yamaha. He is without doubt one of the fastest riders in the world who has proven on a regular
basis that he is capable of challenging for the podium in MotoGP.”
Poncharal added that he is delighted to earn the confidence of Dovizioso that he trusted him to pursue his racing career with the Tech3 team. On that note, the team is also looking forward to achieve high goals in 2012.
The team boss believes that teaming up Andrea Dovizioso with Cal Crutchlow will be one of the strongest riders’ duos in the 2012 season.
Dovizioso holds a vast experience of racing 1000cc and 800cc MotoGP prototypes. Although he has not won any championship, but in 2011 he has proved his mettle.
Cal Crutchlow is running through his debut season and hopefully he will be very strong in 2012. Both riders will be delivering the true image of Yamaha 1000cc R1s in the next season.
