Monster Yamaha Tech3’s Cal Crutchlow feels the loss of Marco Simoncelli at Valencia – MotoGP news
Monster Yamaha Tech3 rider Cal Crutchlow will miss Honda Gresini rider Marco Simoncelli at Valencia.
The British rookie rider has a single point lead over Karel Abraham of Cardion AB Motoracing.
Currently, Crutchlow is placed at 13th place in the world championship, and has performed well throughout the 2011 season.
Crutchlow said, “This weekend isn't going to be easy for anybody in the paddock after Marco's accident in Malaysia, but racing is the best way we can honour him and I'm sure that is definitely what he would have wanted.”
The Valencia race weekend will be held with the memories of Simoncelli who died in the Malaysian Grand Prix.
The Italian rider lost battle to life due to severe injuries sustained on his head, neck and chest region. Super Sic had a cardiac arrest as he fell on the asphalt. The medical staff at the Sepang circuit tried to revive him but failed after an effort for
more than an hour.
The British MotoGP rookie added, “MotoGP lost an amazing character and a phenomenally gifted rider and my thoughts and prayers are with Marco's family and friends. All of us will go out this weekend determined to put on a good show that Marco would be proud
of.”
Brit’s teammate Colin Edwards was also involved in the crash held at Sepang. Simoncelli after having a low side fall veered in the way of Edwards and Valentino Rossi of Ducati Team.
The Texas Tornado had a hard fall, suffering from a dislocated shoulder and torn cartilage. He will be missing the season finale at Spain due to his physical condition.
American Superbike champion, Josh Hayes will be racing in place of Edwards at Valencia. Crutchlow wishes that Edwards gets healthy soon and gets back for racing.
Last time in 2010, the British rider first time rode a Tech3 M1 at Valencia during the winter testing session. Since then, he has significantly improved his racing skills at the premier class level.
He aims to end his season in the best way possible so he can have a confident 2012 season start with a new teammate, Andrea Dovizioso.
