Monta Ellis breathes fire from downtown as the Golden State Warriors bury the Cleveland Cavaliers 95-85
Golden State Warriors shooting guard Monta Ellis landed six 3-pointers in the second half to clinch a game-high 24 points and propelled the Golden State Warriors to a magnificent 95-85 victory over the Cleveland Cavaliers.
Stephen Curry joined the action with 23 points. The duo also combined for 13 assist while the Warriors also received 14 points and 14 boards from Dorrell Wright. Golden State outscored the Cavaliers 77-55 in the last three quarters
to chalk out their second win in the last eight games.
Golden State coach Keith Smart said after the game.
"Monta had to do something tonight to get us going and to get himself going. I thought he was setting up the other guys more than he was looking for his own shot early on, but he really got hot in the second half."
Baron Davis arrival in Cleveland has had a massive impact and his first appearance as a Cavalier resulted in an absolute shocker for the New York Knicks. On Tuesday, he scripted yet another impressive performance for the Cavs with
his 19 points off the bench. The rest of his team however, refused to pick up the slack as the Cavs continued to lose.
J.J. Hickson showed some aggression at the start of the play, scoring 8 points of his 10 in the first quarter. On the back of his efforts, the Cavaliers procured a comprehensive 30-18 advantage in the first period. Despite of a
massive deficit in the beginning, Golden State Warriors kept on fighting and managed to choke the embattled Cavs.
Stephen Curry and Al Thornton lifted the momentum for Warriors, who romped with a 12-7 run in the preliminary moments of the second quarter to cut the deficit. Golden State continued their up tempo game and managed to clinch a
single point advantage as the game progressed into the halftime.
Monta Ellis then took over the third quarter with his exceptional shooting from long distance. He buried five of his 6 shots from beyond the arc to give the Warriors a healthy advantage. The visiting team amplified the lead to
11 points by the end of the third quarter.
Cleveland Cavaliers strived to retaliate with 5-0 run in the starting couple of minutes of the final quarter however; Ellis was not finished yet. The sharp shooting prodigy, who is one of the leading scorers in the league this
season, landed another electrifying 3-pointer at that point. It was followed by David Lee’s successive scoring as the Warriors stretched the lead 83-74 with 7:19 left in the game.
Stephen Curry than carried the momentum to ensure a fabulous 95-85 victory with the final buzzer.
