Has anyone been to Montego Bay, Jamaica, Grand Cayman or Cozumel during the month of January? What were the weather conditions like? Can you still swim, snorkel, scuba dive etc.? Or is it too cold? And information of previous experiences would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

  1. I went on a cruise to the same islands in late December and early January a couple of years ago and the water was fine! Many of the tourists still swim, snorkel, scuba dive, etc..We snorkeled in Grand Caymen, climbed the falls in Montego Bay, and swam in Cozumel and the water was jabout the same in all three places. I couldn't tell much difference. Honestly, the water is a little cooler than the summer months, but it's fine! We had a blast still! Be sure to bring a jacket for nights on the ship, it gets windy and a little cool at sea!

Well, here are some links to those places showing current conditions and what not. Hope this helps! Have fun!

  2. Anything on the same horizontal plane as Jamaica will be hot in January.  I once went to the Bahamas in December and I needed a sweater.  What a waste.  Never again.  Now I just gauge everything by Jamaica and just GO!

  3. Can't talk about Cozumel but you'll be able to enjoy the water side of MoBay and George Town.  Temps should be in the low-mid 80s during the day, might need a light coat at night.  When you first get in the water you might be cold.
