Montella delighted with Gomez capture – Football news
Fiorentina manager, Vincenzo Montella, has expressed his delight on the capture of Mario Gomez from Bayern Munich earlier this week. He admitted that the striker is a world-class player and will definitely add to the team in the next season.
Mario Gomez completed his transfer from Bayern Munich to the Italian club for an estimated fee of €20 million. The striker’s future had been under widespread speculation for the past few months as he has lost his place in the starting line-up to the likes
of Mario Mandzukic and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Claudio-Pizarro-c9324.
Montella claimed that he is extremely impressed by his side’s achievements in the last season and is looking forward to emulating the feat in the upcoming campaign. The manager stated that by adding Gomez to the squad, Fiorentina now have a great player
who has experience of playing in Europe and at the international level.
“Certainly only what happens on the field will show whether this side are capable of repeating what we achieved last season, and then we can look further. Everybody knows he's a great player and that we're delighted to get him. We hope to impress again,
both in terms of results and the way we play. That is what I hope for,” he was quoted as saying in an interview.
On the other hand, the former Fulham player refused to comment on any other signings in the summer transfer window. He admitted that there are targets that the club is looking at and a decision will be made only after things are done.
“We'll have to see. You can always improve your squad so I always expect the best and the most. But let's take things one step at a time for now. The first step should be the official announcement of Gomez,” he concluded.
Mario Gomez made only 32 appearances in all competitions for Bayern Munich and scored 19 goals in the process. The striker mostly made substitute appearances for the Bavarian giants and missed the start of the campaign through injury. He will only add to
the attacking flare at Fiorentina and there is a great chance that the Italians will qualify for Europe next season.
