Montenegro overpowers Romania in Men’s Water Polo: Preliminary round Group B – London Olympic Games
Montenegro overpowered Romania in the preliminary round of Group ‘B’ Men’s Water Polo match on eighth day of the water polo events at the 2012 London Olympic Games in Water Polo Arena on Saturday, August 4.
Montenegrin team overpowered Romanian players in the first quarter of the race, where they ascend on the score table by securing three goals against Romania’s one goal effort. With their continued efforts in the second quarter, Montenegrin team dominated
the second quarter and the score remained 5-2 after the first half.
Subsequently, Romanian team made a significant improvement in their strategy in the second half but failed to overcome their opposing team and lost the match with a score of 12-8.
Afterwards, the crowd witnessed gruelling efforts of Hungarian team that thrashed Great Britain in an easy manner. They scored six goals in the first quarter, while Great Britain managed to escape the zero mark by scoring just one goal.
Hungarian squad continued their dominance in the second quarter, where they notched up five goals and overpowered Great Britain’s four goals effort.
Third quarter of the game saw furious efforts of Hungarian players, which ascended on the scorecard by four goals whereas the British team failed to show any improvement in their score. Similarly, Great Britain scored the opening goal in fourth quarter but
their effort was followed by a two-goal accomplishment from the Hungarian team, which won the match with a 17-6 effort.
Following that, the last match of Group ‘B’ was between Serbia and United States, where Serbian team showed no leniency to American players and proved their victory.
They scored four goals in first quarter and one goal in second quarter while USA managed to score one and two goals respectively, making the score 5-3 at the end of first half.
The same continued in second half, where Serbia notched up three goals in third and fourth quarter while the American players once again scored one and two goals respectively, losing the match 11-6 from Serbia.
In addition, the spectators acknowledged gruelling efforts of all water polo athletes in their respective matches after the events.
