Montepaschi Siena and Union Olimpija record wins: Euroleague Basketball November 2nd
Review: Part 1
Montepaschi Siena Vs GS Medical Park:
Montepaschi have been majestic so far in the Turkish Airlines Euroleague 2011 and are yet to lose a game.
In their third outing, they completely destroyed Medical Park winning the game 103-77. This was their most convincing win of this year’s league and if they continue like this, there is no doubt they might lift the trophy in the
end.
Not only were they aggressive but mighty accurate too as they knocked down 25 for 28 from free throw line 10 for 18 from downtown. Rimantas Kaukenas, who has been sensational so far, marshalled the winning team with game high 24
points with a near perfect shooting knocking down 6 for 6 from free throws and 6 for 7 from the paint. Bo McCalebb was also influential and chipped in with his 19 with 2 for 2 from three-point range. David Anderson (13) and Pietro Aradori (11) were strong
on rebounds and pulled out 6 each.
Luksa Andric and Ender Arsalan were the two most impressive players from the losing side ending with 12 and 10 points respectively.
Siena were dominant right from the start. They scored consistently throughout and not for a single moment in the game, allowed Medical Park to dictate terms. Park only looked threatening in the second quarter when they scored 21
points in contrast to Siena’s 20 but the 14 point lead 30-16, Siena had managed to acquire by the first quarter never allowed Park to even come close to Sienna.
By the end of third quarter, fate of game had already been decided with Siena extending their lead to 22 points 76-54. Things got embarrassing when Pietro Aradori’s three-pointer in the second last minute of the game took Siena’s
score past 100. Buzzer finally rang and the game ended.
Union Olimpija Vs Asseco Prokom:
Union Olimpija claimed their first victory of the Turkish Airlines Euroleague by beating Asseco Prokom 70-62 in a low scoring game.
Danny Green from winning team was the star of the show ending with 23 points shooting 5 for 7 from the three-point range. Robert Rothbart missing a double-double ended with 9 points and 8 rebounds.
Gee Alonzo (13) and Oliver Lafayette (12) were the most impressive players from Asseco but they were fighting alone for the cause. No other team mate managed to contribute.
Trailing behind 9 points 25-16 by the end of first quarter, Prokom pulled back things to an extent in the second quarter by reducing the lead to 7 points by the end of first half. Olimpija were leading 40-33 but Asseco were still
in the game.
It was the third quarter when game stated moving miles away from Prokom as they were held from scoring by Union’s defense. Olimpija’s lead had extended to vital 11 points by the end of third quarter.
Entering the last quarter under pressure, Prokom did well and managed to accumulate 15 points however in the end they fell short.
