  1. It depends on what work you are making.  There are a lot of different things that can be done with pouches.

One of the more common ones is something where you match what is inside the various pouches with what is inside the other pouch by feeling it.  You can get many of these objects at a craft store, such as Michaels.

If you want Montessori specific materials (i.e. smaller versions of the geometric solids), there are many suppliers.  Google "Montessori Materials" and you will find a large selection of places.  It may take some time to find something specific, but you should be able to find something with a little digging.

One great place to check out

They do have a mystery bag under "sensorial."  I would contact them and ask them what they have included in it.  Their products are fantastic quality.

  2. I think you need to be a little more specific about your questions as pouches can be used for many diffrerent things  in a classroom.

Like the previous answer suggested, you can use them as a mystery bag with the "Geometric Solids"- blocks shaped into cones, spheres, etc.

Another way of using a pouch as a "Mystery bag" is putting in small household objects (coin, bead, brush, sponge, thimble) and learning the names. Or matching pairs of things by feel - this could be simple by keeping the objects dissimilar, or more complex (pairing seashells of different types).

Miniature language objects can be bought from "Montessori and Such" (previously "Concepts to go") as well as other Montessori companies.  If you don't already know these companies, try taking a look at magazines like "Montessori Life " (published by AMS).  The companies that place ads in these types of professional magazines and journals are often good sources of materials.  I also raid my neice and daughter's doll accessories - cans of catfood, hats, and cups are rarely missed but great fins for the object boxes.

    HTH!
