The former midfielder of Fiorentina has gone on to remark on the current formation put in place by the under fire coach, Massimiliano Allegri, at the Rossoneri outfit.
The San Siro outfit have not had the best of lucks in the new season so far. They are still recovering from the void left by the departure of more than 13 players in the ranks of AC Milan; and what was touted as a move by the club to keep their expenses
under check has had the exact effect that the pundits and the experts of the game felt would happen. The players brought on by the club to fill the gap vacated by the players is taking a lot of time to fill up and the San Siro outfit are finding it hard to
please their fans, who have gone on to witness one disappointment after another.
This has meant that the club have come under immense amounts of pressure, and the lack of experience within the personnel at the club is coming to haunt the higher management of the Rossoneri. They have only managed to secure 14 points from the 11 matches
they have played so far, and for a club of the calibre of Milan, this is nothing short of an abysmal return.
Montolivo was talking to the press after their match against Malaga, and reflected on the new formation adopted by the club, and he feels that it has brought out the best in the team. Furthermore, he believes that the team will improve as the season progresses,
and went on to remark:
“I think our best performances this season have been with this system. We have the players to take a different approach too, but right now we need a sense of certainty. I believe we still require a faster tempo and a little more initiative in the final third
to unlock opposition defences. We had several chances today, but perhaps could’ve done with being a little more precise in our finishing.”
Milan are currently sitting on five points in the Lega from their four matches in the group stages of the Champions League.
