Montolivo rues missed chances but satisfied with overall result: Euro 2012 qualifiers
Italian midfielder, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Riccardo-Montolivo-c31049, is ruing the missed chances in the 1-1 draw against Serbia on Friday, October 7th, 2011.

The Fiorentina star had a lovely opportunity to score his team’s second goal but he unselfishly passed the ball instead of going for the shot. The 26-year-old admitted that he was confused whether to pass the ball or shoot himself but he preferred to play into the path of his teammate.
Montolivo said, “I wasn’t clear-headed enough, without doubt. My teammates also told me it would’ve been better to go for the shot, but I wasn’t entirely aware of where I was and how much time I had on the ball, so preferred to pass it.”
The former Atalanta star praised the hosts for making a strong comeback after conceding an early goal. Montolivo admitted that Serbia created several problems for his team in the midfield and did not allow them any space to run.

The Italian is satisfied with the overall result and admitted that he is happy with the point given the opposition strength.
“Despite our great start and early goal, Serbia continued to play the ball and push hard. I think overall we had a good game against a tough opponent who needed points to get the play-off place, so we can be happy with the result.”
