Reigning French champions have been busy in Mercato in recent weeks and are inches away from capturing their third summer signing
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Montpellier-HSC-c39945 surprised the footballing world when they won Ligue 1 title last season, finishing the season with 82 points. No one was expecting them to even finish in the podium position as they were in the bottom half of the table a year before that.
La Paillade are blessed with young and talented players and MHSC want to hold on to their players in order to defend their title. Players like http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Grégory-Lacombe-c15241, Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa and Olivier Giroud helped them win the title for the first
time in club’s history.
However, league’s top scorer Olivier Giroud, who finished the season with 21 goals and 9 assists, has left Montpellier Herault for English Premier League outfit Arsenal in a 12 million Euros deal.
Montpellier have recruited couple of players that has strengthen their squad and are set to sign another, Anthony Mounier, from OGC Nice to fill the void left by the departure of Olivier Giroud.
Daniel Congre and Gaetan Charbonnier have already joined the club which has given a much needed boost to Rene Girard's side. Montpellier's nearest rivals PSG are spending madly in the transfer market and La Paillade need to sign few players of their own
in order to counter the threat Paris Saint-Germain pose.
According to reports, Montpellier and Nice have reached an agreement for Anthony Mounier and the player is expected to join Rene Girard’s side this week. MHSC have paid 3.5 million Euros to OGC Nice for Mounier who will have his medical with the club after
which Montpellier will officially announce his arrival.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Anthony-Mounier-c6224, who can play as a winger, spent two seasons with OGC Nice following his arrival at the club from Lyon in 2009. The Frenchman managed to make 92 appearances for Nice in his two-year stay scoring 10 goals in the process.
Mounier will compete with http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/John-Utaka-c18898 at Montpellier for a place in starting line-up unless Utaka moves to a more forward position. Whichever place he plays for Montpellier, one thing is certain; Montpellier look good and well prepared for the next season
and are in good shape to defend their Ligue 1 title.
