French Ligue 1 side, Montpellier have gone on to confirm that Arsenal have been in talks with them over the potential transfer of Olivier Giroud and revealed that so far, things were progressing rather smoothly.
It was rumoured that Arsenal had agreed on a price for the transfer of the French international, but there really wasn’t any proof to support this fact.
However, with the French club now admitting that things are going smoothly, it is believed that Giroud is going to be on his way to the North London club, for a fee of around thirteen million pounds.
Montpellier’s vice president, when revealing what had been going on between the two teams, admitted that so far things were moving ‘serenely’ and insisted that a final agreement could be reached in the near future.
Laurent Nicollin said: "Discussions are happening in a cordial fashion.”
“Things are moving serenely."
Giroud had admitted that he was looking to move out of the club and join Arsenal, which made the transfer progress as fast as it did.
Montpellier were previously insisting that they weren’t going to let the forward leave, but they seem to have had a change of heart, because of the striker’s desire to play for the Gunners.
Last season, Giroud went on to be awarded the golden boot for being the top scorer in the French League, despite being tied on goals with Nene from PSG.
He was given the award ahead of his competitor, simply because of the fact that he took scored more goals from open play, as opposed to Nene who converted from the penalty spot to increase his tally.

With all this intent and activity shown by the team in the transfer window, it seems like Arsene Wenger has finally learned from his mistakes and isn’t willing to take any more chances.
