The Moroccan international is keen to end his time at Ajax Amsterdam and it appears that Montpellier Herault are seeing him as a replacement for Olivier Giroud
Yesterday, Olivier Giroud committed himself to English Premier League side http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Arsenal-c38429 FC. The striker scored 21 goals for Montpellier last season and also provided 9 assists in the Ligue 1 winning campaign. The departure of the striker has been a huge challenge
for the recruiting cell of La Paillade.
Though Gaetan Charbonnier’s arrival has overcome the departure of the striker numerically, the youngster is still inexperienced to play in the Champions League as a focal point in the attack. Other avenues are being explored by the residents of the Mosson.
A few days ago, Sporting Club de Braga striker http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Lima-c22267 was linked with a move to Montpellier.
Today, several Dutch newspapers claim that the reigning Ligue 1 champions are keeping tabs on Moroccan international http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Mounir-El-Hamdaoui-c26905. Algemeen Dagblad claims that the French outfit has shortlisted the Ajax Amsterdam striker as a possible replacement for
Giroud.
In the past, El Hamdaoui has also attracted interest from Ligue 1 clubs Bordeaux and AS Saint-Etienne. The striker had a blank season with Ajax following a conflict with manager Frank De Boer who confined him to play for the reserve side, Jong Ajax.
Though his contract expires in June 2014, El Hamdaoui would be able to negotiate a departure from the club where he initially made such a bright start.
Therefore, Rene Girard indeed has a great chance of securing the striker’s services. However, the Mosson residents are not the only club keeping an eye on the experienced attacker. The native of Rotterdam, who has scored around 96 goals in 186 Eredivisie
games, is also attracting interest from Italian Serie A side Fiorentina.
Both clubs appreciate the player’s profile and his lethalness in front of goal. However, having already sealed automatic qualification for next season’s edition of the UEFA Champions League, MHSC have a huge advantage over their transalpine rivals.
Though it remains to be seen if the player will actually arrive at the Mosson this summer, one thing is clear that whoever comes in, will have a huge burden on their shoulders in order to make sure that the absence of Giroud is not felt.
