Montpellier thrashes Lyon by 30-10 in Top 14 – Rugby News
Montpellier has beaten Lyon by a comprehensive margin of 20 points in the ongoing Top 14. The match was played on November 30, at Matmut Stadium, in which Montpellier overwhelmed their rivals from the start and ultimately secured excellent results. They
did not allow the Lyon side to open their account until the end of the first half and enjoyed an unanswered lead of 14-0.
During the match, Montpellier’s number 8, Alex Tulou, helped his side to an early lead with a lovely try. It was actually a silence breaker try as both sides struggled to create some entertainment after the passage of 22 minutes. They could not avail the
conversion opportunity and their wing Bustos Moyano hailed the side with a three pointer into the 29th minute of encounter.
Bustos Moyano scored a couple of more penalty goals for his team before half time and expanded the lead to 14-0. Lyon got a few comprehensive chances of scoring but the rock solid defence of Montpellier denied them every time.
The full-back of Lyon, Romain Loursac, opened the account for his team right after the break. Bustos Moyano did not stop in the second half as he scored two more penalty goals to put his side in a comfortable position.
When the final whistle came, Montpellier was well ahead of Lyon with 30-10 and thus increased their unbeaten streak against Clermont to five matches. Bustos Moyano was declared Man of the Match for his tremendous output.
